Ready to Ride the Rails
Becca and I are going to be trying out train travel today for the first time. My prediction is that this will just be long and boring and uncomfortable. But, there is a small chance that we will actually end up having a great time and it will be a fun and exciting adventure. Mainly our reasons for trying out train travel is that it’s cheaper than Air Travel, and easier than driving for 11 hours. We shall see. I think travel by train should also be much more resilient to winter weather conditions than any other form of transport. But I have heard about some significant disruptions in California, Oregon, and Washington train service over the past several days, hopefully that won’t affect us tonight. For the ride we have the iPhone with 2 movies, one I “acquired” online is the recent Futurama movie. And, a new one for me is trying out this whole iTunes rental process, I rented The Incredible Hulk. The iTunes rental selection is crappy, and the cost is still pretty high, but we needed something easy to get last night. So, the file is on the iPhone waiting for us to watch, the headphone splitter is ready to go, should be fun! I also have two rechargeable Pocket Power charger batteries. They have a USB port on them and each one almost has enough juice to completely recharge the iPhone internal battery. Also they will power a 20 watt device through the AC inverter plug, which in reality is almost useless. This will power a very small lamp, or my plug-in electric razor, that’s about all I could find that had such measly power requirements from an AC plug. I got them from woot for super cheap, so I’ll take whatever I can get out of them.
