Uncluttering Again

We’ve been at it again, trying to downsize our stuff. We did the first major pass about a year and a half ago. It was immensely satisfying then, we cleaned out a bunch of our stuff and we replaced a lot of our furniture and re-decorated somewhat. Since then we moved to a new apartment and have only done one or two little clutter clearing sessions. One thing we’ve had since we got married was a lot of stuff stored under the bed. We got some little pedestal things from Target and got about 12” of clearance under our bed that way. We packed this area very tightly. Throughout our uncluttering we’ve always known in the back of our mind that leaving all of that stuff under the bed was not an optimal situation, that we weren’t taking our mission to lighten our load seriously enough if we still felt that we “needed” the unnatural extra storage space under our bed. Also, we kept breaking those stupid pedestals and it was bad for our bed frame. So we cleared it out. Becca threw away a whole bunch of stuff, she went through all of our clothes and dropped yet another 3 hefty bags of clothing into the donation boxes. Now we had room in the closet. I cleared out about 2/3rds of my computer parts and cable collection, so it all fit into one file box. A few items like our sleeping bags and her electric keyboard still fit under the bed when it’s lowered, so we did it. We got rid of another big pile of stuff we didn’t need and didn’t realize we were holding on to, and we got our bed back down to a normal height. Our top secret goal of how slim we want our stuff to be is coming nearer.
